i extremely beginner level web-designer. hired in company create domain scratch. requested domain bilingual. not know javascript, came idea of creating 2 separate html files in translate content required language , make ref link when user clicks on en.icon english html page pops up.
is solution functional, cost them more money when hosting website? affect loading times significantly?
if no possible solutions can proceed with.
well, ineffective write different html page each language. if project small , won't expand in future should trick isn't smart way. imagine having 1000 page website.
i suggest learnt bit of javascript , change text in current element depending on current language is. can store current language in cookie or in localstorage/sessionstorage (the second option simple).
it lot if basic dom (html tree) manipulation in javascript. not worry if don't grasp beginning. has went through that. simple , shouldn't take time. take time javascript , pay off in few months.
after you've got basics using vanilla javascript can try ot jquery. simplify things lot recommend learning things hard way have deeper understanding of how things work.
whether or not want become developer or want designer, learning basics of programming of use.
