many have come across fact sql server 2005 doesn't support datetime2
. wondering if can add custom datatype instead.
i created custom type name datetime2
that's done.
now need set min date value, possible, since custom type based on datetime
type?
short answer: no can't.
furthermore, datetime2 has additional properties, regarding fractional precision. i'd highly recommend sql server dba migrate server @ least 2008, open rich features not available in 2005. don't see advantage using largely deprecated , on 10 years old. since you're resorting creating udts potentially create kinds of rdbms havoc in future.
