using visual studio 2013 ide for other things -

i love vs2013 solarized-dark theme. use ide other tasks, if possible. noticed sql server 2014 uses vs2010 ide it's interface. realize might because have source ide - lol.

i'm wondering if can create add-in, or in other way use vs2013 ide other purposes - creating tabs , hosting own controls in tabs - , of course modifying menus.

the rest of look/feel - i'd remain think it's superior programmer. custom (ie; non-windows7) scrollbars - tabs - solarized theme - things want keep.

any pointers or advice appreciated. i've use vs since it's inception, never tried develop add-ins or extend ide in way.

you can extend visual studio ide or reuse visual shell own purposes. sql server uses visual studio shell, integrated mode.
