i've created android project being stored on github public repository. project contains api key shouldn't made viewable public. in order prevent public seeing key, i've placed in config.properties file. in androidmanifest.xml, key value contains dummy data. run application testing purposes, i'm pasting key manifest before launching , replacing dummy data before commit changes github.
my question, how access property api.key in config.properties androidmanifest.xml? idealy, when gradle file builds project, api.key value inserted androidmanifest.xml, never seen on github because .gitignore file not allow .properties files committed.
